Frequently asked questions.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is therapy and how does it work?
Therapy is a collaborative space where we explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe, supportive environment. Together, we’ll work toward understanding patterns, building coping skills, and helping you move toward the life you want. It’s a process tailored to your unique needs — you set the pace and the goals.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Many people seek therapy when they’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure of how to navigate life’s challenges. If you’re wondering whether therapy might help — that curiosity alone is a good sign. Therapy can support you through transitions, stress, relationship struggles, or simply help you better understand yourself.
What can I expect in my first session?
The first session is about getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your hopes and goals, and any questions you have about the process. You don’t need to prepare or have it all figured out — just come as you are.
I’ve never done therapy before - what if I don’t know what to say?
That’s completely okay! Many clients worry about this at first. It’s my job to help guide the conversation — you don’t need to have it all organized or know exactly where to start. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
How often will we meet and how long does therapy take?
Most clients start with weekly sessions, though we can adjust the frequency to fit your needs and schedule. The length of therapy varies — some clients come for a few months to address a specific concern, while others choose longer-term work. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy is supporting your goals.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes — I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual therapy sessions for clients throughout Maryland. Many clients appreciate the flexibility and comfort of meeting from their own space.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. What we discuss in therapy stays between us, with a few exceptions required by law (such as risk of harm to yourself or others). We’ll review confidentiality together in your first session so you know exactly what to expect.
Do you work with women experiencing midlife transitions, perimenopause, or ADHD?
Yes — this is an area I’m especially passionate about. Many women find that life transitions, hormonal changes, and shifting roles can impact mood, focus, and overall well-being. Therapy can help you navigate these changes, manage symptoms, and reconnect with your strengths.
